Company NewsImproper operation of bearings during installation often leads to premature damage or early failure during use. Greatly increased bearing costs, the editor has compiled several common installation errors!
Walking in the inner circle
The fit between the shaft and the bearing inner hole is too loose (commonly known as "inner ring")
Due to the loose fit between the shaft and the inner hole, sliding occurs between the shaft and the inner hole surface. Sliding friction will cause heating, causing damage to the bearings due to heating.
Traces of sliding between the shaft and the inner hole surface
Cracks caused by friction and heat generation between the inner ring end face and the shaft shoulder
When walking through the inner ring, the sliding friction between the inner ring and the shaft will generate high temperature. Due to the small contact surface between the inner ring end face and the shaft shoulder, the temperature will be higher. Causing thermal cracks on the inner ring end face, the continuous extension of thermal cracks will cause the bearing inner ring to fracture during use.
Adhesion occurs between the shaft and the inner hole surface after heating
Due to the sliding friction between the inner hole and the surface of the shaft caused by the "inner ring" movement, the high temperature causes the surface metal to melt and produce adhesion
Take the outer circle
The fit between the housing aperture and the outer diameter of the bearing is too loose (commonly known as "outer ring")
Due to the loose fit between the housing aperture and the bearing outer diameter, sliding occurs between their surfaces. Sliding friction will cause heating, causing the bearing to overheat and be damaged.
Hammer directly strikes the bearing
When installing bearings with inner (or outer) ring interference fit, it is prohibited to directly hit the end face of the bearing inner (or outer) ring with a hammer, as this can easily damage the retaining edge. A sleeve should be placed on the inner (or outer) end face and installed by tapping the sleeve with a hammer.
Transmission of installation force through rolling elements
When installing bearings with inner ring interference fit, force cannot be transmitted to the inner ring through the outer ring and rolling element. This will damage the surface of the bearing raceway and rolling element, causing noise and premature damage to the bearing during operation. The correct method should use a sleeve to directly apply force to the inner ring end face
Heating temperature too high
Some users use acetylene spray guns to heat the inner holes of bearings. When the heating temperature exceeds 727 ℃ (the phase transformation temperature of bearing steel), the metallographic structure inside the bearing steel will change. After the bearing cools down, the inner hole of the bearing cannot be restored to its original size, usually larger than the size before heating.
After being heated by an acetylene spray gun, the surface of the bearing turns black
Inadequate installation results in unilateral force on the bearing
Self aligning roller bearing: One row of rollers is subjected to force while the other row of rollers is not, causing damage to the raceway and one row of rollers on one side of the inner and outer rings of the bearing
The installation method of bearings is a common problem encountered in the use of bearings, as well as a difficult and troublesome problem. Only by mastering the scientific and correct installation methods can bearings be used normally and their service life be extended.
